Hey There

HealthyHomeAquarium.com was created by Marcin — an aquarist with over 30 years of hands-on experience keeping freshwater and planted aquariums.

Marcin currently maintains 8 active aquariums at home and has set up, broken, rebuilt, and rescued dozens of tanks over the years. His experience comes from real systems, real mistakes, and real recoveries — not from theory alone.

He also has long-term, hands-on experience with successfully breeding cichlids, primarily Angelfish and German Blue Rams, with a focus on stable conditions rather than forced or shortcut methods.

Much of the site focuses on understanding how aquariums fail in everyday situations:

  • ammonia spikes in new tanks, stocking decisions that seem fine until they aren’t,
  • equipment that quietly stops working at 2 a.m.,
  • and plants that melt despite “doing everything right.”

These are the problems most aquarists face — and the ones rarely explained clearly.

Marcin specializes in aquarium lighting, CO₂ systems, and plant nutrition, but the core philosophy of the site is simple:

  • stable water,
  • healthy fish,
  • and systems that make sense long-term.

No shortcuts, no panic fixes, and no advice copied without understanding how the system actually works.

Many aquarium guides focus on what to buy or what to add next. This site focuses on why things fail, how to recognize problems early, and how to fix them without tearing everything down.

HealthyHomeAquarium.com exists to help aquarists avoid preventable mistakes, understand what’s really happening inside their tanks, and build aquariums that stay healthy long after the excitement of setup fades.

Whether you’re setting up your first aquarium or trying to fix one that keeps crashing, the goal is the same: fewer dead fish, fewer frustrating resets, and aquariums that actually work.

Cheers

Marcin
